Anti‑Communism Week 2025:

Anti‑Communism Week 2025:

By Joey St. Vincent

Trump’s Proclamation and Its Symbolic Weight

On November 7, 2025, President Donald J. Trump proclaimed November 2–8 as Anti‑Communism Week. The declaration coincided with Victims of Communism Day and was designed to memorialize the more than 100 million lives lost under communist regimes while warning against modern ideological rebranding under terms like social justice or democratic socialism.

The Proclamation

Trump’s statement emphasized communism’s destructive legacy:

“Communism has wrought devastation upon nations and souls. More than 100 million lives have been taken by regimes that sought to erase faith, suppress freedom, and destroy prosperity earned through hard work, violating the God‑given rights and dignity of those they oppressed.”

He described communism as “another word for servitude” and cautioned that new voices are “repeating old lies, cloaked in the language of social justice and democratic socialism”.

Historical Context

The proclamation invoked examples of communist devastation:

  • Stalin’s USSR: purges, gulags, famine.
  • Maoist China: Cultural Revolution and Great Leap Forward.
  • Castro’s Cuba & Chávez’s Venezuela: economic collapse and repression.

By citing these cases, Trump framed Anti‑Communism Week as both memorial and warning — honoring victims while cautioning against ideological infiltration in modern politics.

Political Resonance

The timing was deliberate. Days earlier, Trump criticized New York City’s newly elected socialist mayor, Zohran Mamdani, labeling him a “communist” and warning that Miami would become a refuge for those fleeing New York’s policies.

At the America Business Forum in Miami, Trump declared:

“Communists, Marxists, socialists, and globalists had their chance and delivered nothing but disaster. The choice is communism or common sense.”

Legacy and Impact

Trump concluded by asserting that America must ensure communism “finds its place, once and for all, on the ash heap of history”.

Anti‑Communism Week 2025 thus serves as both a commemorative ritual and a strategic narrative move — blending historical remembrance with modern political messaging.
